Lockheed Martin Work Experience Program


The Lockheed Martin Work Experience Program Was Initiated To:

  • Provide students an opportunity to gain professional work experience related to their academic discipline while maintaining full-time university enrollment;
  • Afford students an opportunity for career exploration;
  • Aid employers in providing "On-the-Job" training for student interns;
  • Utilize a relatively untapped source of labor with a diversity of skills and academic backgrounds;
  • Provide program participants a unique training experience on the cutting edge of technology; and
  • Extend the University‘s classroom into the corporate community

Student Guidelines and Responsibilities

  • Student must be eligible to obtain a security clearance upon request.
  • Student must be enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Central Florida and taking a minimum of 12 credit hours as an undergraduate student or taking a minimum of 9 credit hours as a post baccalaureate/graduate student.  Any college credits being taken at another institution must be in addition to full-time enrollment at UCF.
  • Student must have completed at least one semester at UCF, and must establish a UCF GPA and overall GPA of at least 3.0 in order to apply.
  • Student must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, both UCF and overall, as an undergraduate student or a minimum GPA of 3.2, both UCF and overall, as a post bac/graduate student.  Failure to maintain these requirements will result in termination.
  • Student must commit to at least two full semesters at Lockheed Martin
  • Student must inform the College Work Experience Program and Campus Coordinator of changes in academic program/major, GPA, work schedule, supervision and/or location as they occur.
  • Student must work a minimum of 12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Graduate students and seniors in their last semester are permitted to work up to 30 hours per week.
  • Student is not allowed to hold another employed position without approval of the Campus Coordinator or College Work Experience Program staff while participating in the program.
  • Student must give a two-week notice of resignation from the program and schedule an exit interview with the College Work Experience Program Coordinator.
  • Student will not earn academic credit for participating in the College Work Experience program as this is not a "for credit" program.

Applying For The Program

In order to be considered for the College Work Experience Program, students should follow these procedures:

  • Fill out the College Work Experience Program application online (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader), print the COMPLETED application and return to the Career Services office, which is located in Ferrell Commons, Building 7F.
    PLEASE NOTE:  We must have the form with your original signature (no faxes or e-mails) returned to the Career Services office.
  • Register in KnightLink to upload your resume for review by the Program Coordinator.
  • Once the application has been reviewed and your resume posted on KnightLink, the College Work Experience Program Coordinator will give access to your resume to the managers throughout Lockheed Martin-Orlando.
  • Applications are only valid for one year from the date of submission.
  • All last semester seniors interested in being considered for the Lockheed Martin Work Experience Program MUST submit a copy of the letter of acceptance to a UCF Graduate Program.  Application and resume will not be accepted without this document.

Interviewing

In an attempt to eliminate cross communication, students are asked to communicate with their campus representative.  All interviews must be coordinated by the College Work Experience Program Coordinator.
