When To Recruit On-Campus
Experience has shown that recruiting is most effective when coordinated with a career event on campus. Please review our Events Calendar to assist you in identifying productive on-campus recruiting periods throughout the year.
Where To Recruit On-Campus
Though the vast majority of on-campus interviewing is completed at the Main Career Services office, interviews are also coordinated and held in other locations on campus. The Career Services Recruiting Coordinator can supply information regarding other Offices / Departments involved in recruiting activities.
Prior to Contacting Career Services
- Determine the nature and number of the positions as well as the number of rooms that will be required.
- Create a brief position description, including title and duties.
- Establish the criteria which will determine if an applicant will be considered for an interview (i.e., citizenship requirements, graduation dates, majors, skills) and please consider if the candidates will be required to attend a testing or information session.
- Determine the interview length and schedule type that will be used to manage student access to interviews.
Before the Recruiting Visit
- Reserve the interviewing date(s). It is recommended that this step be accomplished at least 8 weeks prior to the interview date(s) (dates may be reserved up to one year in advance). Scheduling is generally done on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Once you date has been approved attach a job to your interview schedule.
- Identify “Preselect” candidates, if applicable.
- Check the status of the schedule 1 week prior to the on-campus interview date via KnightLink.
After the Recruiting Visit
- Advise students at the end of the interview the date by which they can expect to hear the results of their interview (typically 2-3 weeks after the interview).
- Once an offer has been accepted by a student we ask that you report this information to the Career Services Recruiting Coordinator – this will help us for statistical purposes by knowing where our students find employment. The Evaluation Form may be faxed to 407-823-5909.
