Ready to give back to UCF?  Assist current UCF students by becoming an a mentor. Help educate students about what employers are looking for in potential employees and assist students in their career development process.
 
Mentor Roles and Responsibilities

The role of a mentor is an important one and we would like to facilitate a successful relationship between you and your mentee. Therefore, we have the following expectations of you as a participant in the on-line mentoring program. Thank you!

Mentoring Roles:

  • Coach
  • Advisor
  • Motivator

Mentoring Responsibilities:

  • Provide insights and information on career goals and help the mentee explore options
  • Encourage your mentee to move forward toward his/her own goals
  • Develop effective communication with your mentee
  • Share the knowledge and experience you have gained during your career
  • Provide candid and constructive feedback
  • Maintain a professional role in the mentoring relationship
  • Keep the Mentoring Program aware of any change of status

Student Responsibilities:

  • Prepare questions that will help you clarify your career related goals
  • Be open to receive advice and referrals from mentors
  • Respect the time and effort of the mentor by promptly returning phone calls and e-mails
  • Communicate problems or questions clearly
  • Take the initiative to ask for feedback
  • Utilize the resources that the mentor offers
  • Be appreciative of the mentor‘s information and support
  • Assume the mentoring program connection will be strictly professional
  • Keep the Mentoring Program aware of any change of status


Get Started: Mentors

Registration:  

Register online by following the link below. Check the "Professional Network" as your requested service. Your registration will be reviewed within one business day, and you will receive access to the Professional Network component of KnightLink. We‘ll notify you, via email, of your Login ID and Password.

Creating Your Profile: 

Follow these step-by-step instructions to create a "Mentor Profile", which will allow students to search for possible mentors in the database:
 
Visit KnightLink
Input your Login ID and Password.
Click the "Professional Network Profile" link to input your profile information into the database.
